Blog tour: ‘Return to Factopia,’ by Kate Hale, illustrated by Andy Smith.

Woo-hoo! I’m so excited that this throughly engaging title is back for a second a instalment! It’s already been snaffled by my son to read and he’s shared a lot of interesting (and strange) facts. To see my review of the first Factopia title, click here.

‘A world of 400 facts, all connected in surprising and hilarious ways! Choose your own path through this ingenious web of astounding information.

Did you know that scientists can tell how old a whale is from its earwax? Or that sharks existed before trees? Welcome to FACTopia, a world of perfectly amazing facts verified by Encyclopaedia Britannica! Every fact in the book is connected to the next in an ingenious trail of information; hop from topic to topic in unexpected and hilarious ways, and discover extraordinary facts about fungus, dreams, dogs, tyrannosaurs, planets, diamonds, bumblebees, robots, jellyfish, Egyptian mummies, and more!

But there’s not just one trail through these pages: sometimes your path branches and you can choose to jump to a totally different (but still connected) part of the book. Discover where your curiosity will take you!

This is such a brilliant title for dipping into and following where your interests take you. The fact that you can take many paths from one page to the next makes exploring this book a truly interactive experience and means that you’ll rarely move through the book in the same way from one read to the next.

The facts included are so cleverly linked and have been verified by Encyclopaedia Britannica so you can be assured that readers aren’t being fed inaccurate information. Whether you’re interested in robots, planets, or bumblebees, there will be something new to discover.

A surefire hit with fact fans and perfect to tempt more reluctant readers to pick up a book and get reading. 8+

Library Girl.

OMG! A second book! YAS! I recently read (and bought) this book in Dutch and loved it so much, hopefully the book will be translated soon so I can add it to my collection. Great review!
