‘Happy Howlidays,’ by Steven Butler and James Patterson, illustrated Richard Watson.

Now I have a bit of a soft spot for Junior Catch-A-Doggy-Bone as he sent me my very first Christmas card of the year. Naturally I am very pleased to tell you all about his latest book: ‘Happy Howlidays,’ part of the Dog Diaries series.

In his second book, Junior explains to his readers all about some of the weird and wonderful holidays the humans in America celebrate. First there’s Fangs Giving, then Crisp-Mouth and the New Ears Day.  It’s all very confusing!

Written in a diary style, this hilarious festive tale gives you a real insight into a dog’s mind (mainly preoccupied with food.). Junior’s many mis-hearings of human words lead to some situations which will have you howling with laughter.

I think that young readers will love Junior’s distinctive voice, doggy japes and unfortunate misunderstandings (and the bucketloads of illustrations).  A pawfect choice for anyone aged 6+
