Blog tour: ‘The Nine Night Mystery,’ by Sharna Jackson, cover by Bex Glendining.

Are you looking for a super-smart whodunnit for tween readers? Look no further than the latest thrilling title from Sharna Jackson!

“Last night Wesley and his friends Josephine and Margot threw their neighbour Rachel a surprise birthday party.

This morning, Rachel is dead.
And Wesley is the one who finds her body.

Rachel’s friends throw a traditional Caribbean Nine Night celebration to help guide her soul to the next world. But Wesley, Margot and Josephine don’t have time to mourn Rachel. They are determined to find out who did this – and find out what secrets Rachel was keeping…”

This book starts with the perfect set up – a surprise party, a host of suspicious guests, and a somewhat mysterious main character who is promptly murdered! Just who was the real Rachel and what secrets is she trying to hide?

Readers are going to love getting to know The Copseys a little better as they try and get to the bottom of the mystery of who was actually responsible for the death of Rachel. Fans of Jackson’s previous title, The Good Turn, will be delighted to meet up again with the main trio of Josie, Wesley and Margot. This time, we get to enjoy Wesley as the main narrator.

All of Sharna’s characters are so authentic and multi-layered that it is sometimes difficult as a reader to decide who the ‘goodies’ and ‘baddies’ are, but that all adds to the fun of trying to decide whodunnit! Their dialogue to absolutely spot on and I’m sure will be an added draw for eager readers.

Ultimately, despite the twists and turns, ‘The Nine Night Mystery’ is a celebration of life and of looking out for those who are around us.
