Blog tour: ‘Bridget Vanderpuff and the Monster Mountain Mystery,’ by Martin Stewart, illustrated by David Habben.

Bridget is back in another cake-flinging, chaos-creating adventure! This whole joyful series is a treat for readers, and don’t worry if you haven’t read the other instalments yet; there’s enough backstory woven in for newbies to pick up what is going on.

“Bridget Vanderpuff is the Best Worst Baker in the World. A recipe for fun with villainy, cake and sprinkles of silliness, heart and hope.

Bridget and Tom travel to Butterälp to stay with Vivienne Velvete – the world’s finest chocolatier. But a horrifying monster is terrorising the villagers and the chocolate festival has been shut down. What’s more, Le Choc – the world’s most perfect bar of chocolate, kept in an alarmed, triple-locked room – has been chomped! Bridget and Tom must trace a track of confuddling clues and unravel their most fiendish plot yet.”

I love that Bridget always manages to find a way to get herself (and her friends) into, and out of, mischief wherever she goes. Luckily, she has an arsenal of frankly delicious weapons tucked in her hair and up her sleeves to help get out of any particularly sticky situations.

In her final adventure, Bridget has to try and stop a monster who is threatening to ruin the Cocoacabana Festival AND thwart the ever-determined League of Meanies. She will need to be at her most ingenious in other to save the day for the people of Butterälp.

The pacey storyline, dollop of humour, and generous helping of illustrations makes this series a great choice for readers who are developing in confidence.
