Recently nominated for the New Children’s Fiction award by the Teach Primary Magazine, this offbeat title is perfect for anyone who likes to ‘think outside the box.’

After narrowly escaping being eaten by a bear on the rampage, we find our main protagonist, the endlessly curious 12-year-old Jack, being lured to a network of secret passageways beneath the museum by the mysterious Grey.

Jack goes there hoping to discover what has happened to all the ‘Odds’ (the children who don’t quite fit in) at his school. He gets much more than he bargains for in a hidden world where pirates, ancient monsters and unicorns are the norm.

I really liked the use of pages from the Ministry handbook to explain exotic plants, the role of kangaroos in making duvets and ninjas!

A really rib-tickling read for those with a curious mind. Packed full of off-the-wall humour and belly laughs.
