“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” Harriet Tubman.
Herstory is a gorgeous collection of biographies featuring some of the world’s most inspiring women and girls. Drawn from all walks of life and periods of time, readers can browse through categories such as ‘Imagine & Create,’ or ‘Think & Solve.’
Each woman enjoys a double-page spread packed full of beautiful illustrations by Sarah Walsh, quotes, photos, maps and lots of fascinating information. Absolutely engrossing and perfect for dipping into. The timeline and glossary at the back are also fantastic.
I loved the sheer variety of women and girls featured, and the fact that there were some unfamiliar names amongst the more well-known entries. Although this anthology features solely females, it’s not just for girls! Book Boy and I had some very interesting discussions about the struggles some of the ladies had to overcome and how these were compounded because of their gender.
A stunningly-produced guide to some of the most inspirational figures in history. A must-have for any home, classroom or library.
