‘Amelia Fang and the Memory Thief,’ by Laura Ellen Anderson.

Everyone’s favourite vampire is back in another wickedly funny installment of Laura Ellen Anderson’s brilliant series.

Amelia is busily planning for her big birthnight party at the Pumpkin Patch (one of Amelia’s favourite places as she wants to be a pumpkinologist when she’s older.) Her pet pumpkin, Squashy, has a swanky new outfit to wear and all her friends and family have been invited.

Things get even better when her school’s new cookery teacher announces they will be holding a cookie-selling competition where the prize is a visit to Pumpkin Paradise Park – the most blood-curdlingly brilliant theme park ever! Amelia and the gang sink their teeth into the challenge and create some of the most disgustingly delicious cookies ever using Mr. Sublime’s special recipe.

When the residents of Nocturnia begin acting very strangely, Amelia begins to suspect that foul play may be at hand.  Why can’t they remember their own names or that tonight is the night of Amelia’s big birthnight party? What’s happening to their memories? Obviously Amelia has to investigate. But can she get their memories back to them before it’s too late?

I love the Amelia Fang books; they are gorgeously illustrated in Anderson’s distinctive style with real humour and charm. Sticky and gross in just the right way to appeal to its target readers but always with friendship and the power of good to triumph over evil at its heart.  A fantastic series which I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone aged 7+.

I will be chatting to Laura about the Amelia Fang series and her other work during #FunnyBookChat on Monday 29th October.  Make sure you join us to be in with a chance of winning a copy of The Memory Thief all of your very own.
