‘Magical Kingdom Of Birds: The Ice Swans,’ by Anne Booth, illustrated by Rosie Butcher.

Maya is Keeper of the Book for the amazing Kingdom Of Birds. She’s already had one adventure in the magical realm  but now she needs to go back and help Princess Willow regain her kingdom.

As Maya opened the pages of the special book, an illustration of an icy tower on a frozen lake appeared. She began to colour it in and found herself falling into the very page she was colouring.

When she arrives, Maya is immediately greeted by fairy, Willow, who seemed to be suffering in the unusually cold weather. Wicked Lord Astor has frozen Swan Lake and turned the beautiful swans who live there into statues. Can Maya break the enchantment and save the day?

This would make a great gift for any young reader embarking on a journey into chapter books and will be delivered by Santa to a lucky eight-year-old I know.

Library Girl.
