Children see and hear the words ‘climate change’ everywhere, but do they truly understand what they mean? This brilliant picture book from Neal Layton explains very clearly and simply some of the causes of climate change and the impact that can have on our planet.
Have you ever wondered what greenhouse gases are and what causes them? Or have you ever worried about the impact warmer temperatures might be having on the other animals who live on our planet? If you have, then this is the book for you.
The generous illustrations, combined with text boxes and diagrams, clearly explain a wide range of scientific concepts in a reasoned and informed manner.
I liked that the book ended on a positive note by focussing on the changes which had already been made to lower emissions, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. It was also packed with lots of very practical tips and ideas which young readers can put into practise in their own lives and environments.
A fantastic non-fiction picture book with a practical but light touch, designed to inform and reassure readers from five and up.
