Blog tour: ‘Llama Glamarama,’ by Simon James Green, illustrated by Garry Parsons.

Today I’m dusty off my dancing shoes, fluffing up my feather boa and high-kicking off the blog tour for the totally fabulous ‘Llama Glamarama’ blog tour. Best known for his award-winning ‘Noah Can’t Even’ teen series, Simon James Green is making his first glitter-filled foray into the world of picture books. And this fabulous creature is what he’s created:

Larry the llama has a secret. A BIG secret – he just loves to dance! He  just knows the other llamas won’t approve. After he’s almost caught boogying late at night, Larry knows it’s time to make a quick getaway. But what’s that in the distance? Bold colours and bright lights? Larry decides to head off and investigate….

This story is a glorious celebration of dance, music and the freedom to express yourself. The message of being proud to be yourself in all your unique wonder is a universal one and something that every child should subscribe to.

Stories celebrating difference are so important for promoting empathy and tolerance towards those who are different to us. Books can open up important conversations and encourage children to unpick their thinking on certain issues – whatever their age.

Above all, Llama Glamarama is a toe-tapping, disco-dancing diva-ish delight to be enjoyed by everyone!

I’ve been issued with a Dance Party Challenge which fortunately does not involve me having to actually dance for you, merely answer a few questions:

  1. What’s your favourite dance move?       The Macarena – good for all occasions!
  2. Favourite song to groove to?                    Any classic 90s dance tune.
  3. Favourite song for a slow dance?                I don’t like to slow dance. Cringe!
  4. Ballet or hip-hop?                                    Hip-hop.
  5. Jive or tango?                                                   J-j-j-jive Bunny!
  6. Flossing or flamenco?                   Flossing.

If that mini Q&A has got your toes tapping, 1508BD07-0A7B-43AC-A926-B7EE4F5A0954you might just enjoy Simon’s ALL OUT 80’s  playlist! How did he know that the eighties is my favourite decade?!

It’s hard to dispute the 1980’s have given us some absolutely banging party anthems and whether you want to attempt (and fail to hit) that high note in Take on Me, or prance around your garden with some chiffon pretending to be a fairy with some Enya playing, there’s something for everyone in my 80’s playlist!

Orinoco Flow – Enya

Walking on Sunshine – Katrina and The Waves

Take on Me – A-ha

The Final Countdown – Europe

Livin’ on a Prayer – Bon Jovi
