Blog tour: ‘Oi Aardvark!’ by Kes Gray & Jim Field.

Today’s stop is brought to you by the letter ‘L’ for ‘Library Girl and Book Boy’ as we journey through the alphabet with the newest addition to the award-winning ‘Oi Frog!’ series.

If you’re an animal and want to know where to sit, Frog is your go-to amphibian, but he seems to bet getting weary of the constant enquiries as he’s written a new book designed to tell all the. Annals who don’t already know, precisely where they should perch their posteriors.

The Alphabetty Botty Book is a comprehensive guide for (nearly) every animal in the alphabet who does not yet have a seat. For example, horses should sit on golf courses, and llamas should sit on pyjamas.

Soon all the animals know exactly where they stand (or sit!) Even a rather questionable creature beginning with ‘Z’!

Both my sons love the clever wordplay and faintly ludicrous situations that some of the weird and wonderful animals featured find themselves in – those poor gazelles and as for the kudu…! Their funny bones were well and truly tickled.

The zingy illustrations are packed with funny details and the expressions on some of the animals’ faces when their learn their fates are priceless! I also love the cool characterisation – the punk rock quetzels and a rather snazzy zebra are firm favourites.

This is possibly one of the funniest alphabet books I’ve read and the perfect addition to this rib-tickling series. 3+
