Any child of the eighties (and onwards) will be familiar of the tale of ‘Dogger,’ a beloved favourite toy who goes missing then reappears in the most unexpected of places. I am absolutely beyond delighted to be able to report that the legendary Shirley Hughes has created a magical new Dogger adventure: ‘Dogger’s Christmas.’

“It’s that special time of year: Christmas.
The time of carol-singing, tree-decorating, and of course lots of presents. But in the excitement of new toys, will Dave forget about his old friend, Dogger?
The very special story of one boy and his beloved toy – who always manages to be found…”

Reading this book brought back so many happy childhood memories for me. I used to love all of Shirley Hughes’ stories as they mirrored the everyday experiences of childhood so perfectly. The illustrations you are just wonderful -timeless, but fresh and so expressive. Every bit as wonderful as you would imagine!
As a parent now myself, I read ‘Dogger’ and ‘Dogger’s Christmas’ with a fresh sense of fear at the thought of one of my children losing their most treasured teddy and can only too easily imagine the heartbreak it would bring. Thankfully, there’s a happy ending for Dogger!
Another classic in the making and a must-buy for any young children in your life.
