This week, Book Boy Junior has been enjoy a graphic novel adventure linked to one of his favourite computer games – Minecraft! Gaming is such a huge hit with children (an adults) of all ages so I’m always on the look-out for books on this theme to encourage some screen-free time!

This new series is a graphic novel adaptation of the best-selling Diary of an 8-Bit Warrior series. Readers ages 7 to 12 can revisit favourite characters and embark on new adventures.
Runt isn’t like other villagers. He’s not too interested in farming carrots – much less trading. What he really wants is to become a warrior. Me day, he summons the courage to leave the village and go exploring on his own. That’s when he meets Blurp, a zombie who wishes he were human. Together, the two journey far and wide in search of adventures … and get more than they bargained for!

This was a huge hit with both my sons (aged 8 and 11.) They were initially hooked in by the familiar characters – villagers, zombies, blazes and, of course, nether portals! They also loved the action-packed sequences and humour which runs throughout the book.
I can imagine that this would be a brilliant buy for fans of Minecraft or gaming in general. My boys are looking forward to seeing more titles come in the future.
