Blog tour: ‘The Changeling Child,’ by H.S. Norup, cover by Thy Bui.

We’re back adventuring with Saga after her environmental triumph in ‘Into the Faerie Hill.’ You don’t need to have read this to enjoy Norup’s sequel – The Changeling Child.

“Twelve years ago, a child vanished from his cradle. He was never seen nor spoken of again. Saga is desperate to discover what happened – did he really just disappear? Or was he whisked away to the Faerie kingdom, to be raised as one of their own?

As she searches for the truth, her best friend Alfred has his own vital mission. The mayor’s relentless construction projects are devastating the natural world, and now the fearsome faeries want revenge. Only Alfred, a demi fae, can restore peace between the two realms.

But as he journeys deeper into the magical kingdom than ever before, the two friends start to suspect that the lost child could be the key to everything…”

I was intrigued to see how Saga would be getting on after her previous encounter with the faerie kingdom. I soon discovered that she was desperate to go back again despite stern warnings from those around her. Lots of readers will no doubt share Saga’s wish to become the David Attenborough of the faerie world!

There is a strong theme of self-discovery and uncovering family secrets as Alfred strives to find out more about his mother and Saga heads off to find out the truth about a local baby who disappeared twelve years ago.

Many readers will also be inspired by Saga’s quest to protect the world around her and that of the fae. Environmental activism is ever on the increase amongst young people, many of whom will no doubt be inspired to take up local environmental causes of their own.

A thrilling read from start to finish which will have readers guessing right until the very end.
