Alfie is just a normal boy who spends most of his time trying to escape from ‘prison’ (aka the illustrious Harrow School.)  Normal, that is, except for the fact that the clumsy fourteen-year-old is next in line for the throne and his every move is watched by his personal bodyguard, Brian.

At the same time as Alfie’s attempted breakouts, a much greater problem is brewing.  Unbeknownst to him, a centuries old battle is raging around him.  The Black Dragon’s power is growing and the Defender (a legendary superhero that nobody has ever seen) is trying to protect his people.

Little does Alfie know that this fearsome duty will soon be passed on to him.  Can he, and his new-found sidekick Hayley Hicks, stop the Black Dragon before it’s too late?

This book is sure to appeal to young lovers of science fiction with just the right balance of thrilling action, mortal peril and heroic rescues.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this witty tale of what really goes on behind closed doors in the Royal Family. Secret passageways, roller-coaster carriages and hidden combat arenas. Who knew they worked so hard?

A clever mix of history and high-tech,  the Royals have never seemed so cool.
