‘Elspeth Hart and the Magnificent Rescue’ by Sarah Forbes, illustrated by James Brown.

I was very excited to be sent a review copy of this third and final instalment of the amazing Elspeth Hart series by Sarah Forbes.  Thank you to Stripes Publishing for my copy.

For those of you who’ve missed the first two books, Elspeth Hart is a clever and resourceful heroine who embarks upon a series of daring and madcap adventures with larger-than-life characters.

In this last hurrah, Elspeth has escaped her captors, Miss Crabb and Gladys Goulash, and is hot on the trail of her missing parents.  She’s received information that they may be mistakenly looking for her deep in the Australian rainforest and is on her way, planning their rescue with Rory on his private jet.

However, things are unlikely to go smoothly as the hideous Miss Crabb still wants Elspeth’s family’s Top Secret Sticky Toffee Sauce recipe and will stop at nothing to get it.  Alligators, koalas and even Bitey Bitey Spiders are not going to stand in her way!

This story contains more than two truly awful villains who are despicable and foul through and through.  You’ll be rooting for plucky Elspeth and her friends to dodge all the traps and attempted kidnappings as they head deeper and deeper into the rainforest, and closer and closer to danger.

Packed full of adventure and fun, any young reader is sure to enjoy Elspeth’s latest adventure.  If you did, don’t forget there are two other books in the series: ‘Elspeth Hart and the Perilous Voyage’ and ‘Elspeth Hart and the School for Show-offs.’

On another note, I was out for a walk this afternoon and I found this laying on the ground:

Could this be the Top Secret recipe Miss Crabb and Gladys Goulash were so keen to get their hands on?  Now, I haven’t tried making it  yet, but if YOU do, please comment below and let us know if it was worth all the trouble Elspeth went to.
