‘L is for London’ by Paul Thurlby

Planning on visiting London Town for some royal birthday celebrations?  Then you need this fabulous A-Z guide crammed with all there is to know about our capital city!

For those of you who need to ‘step into the map’ to navigate around a city, the first thing you’re greeted with when you open the cover is a beautiful map of central London crammed full of illustrated landmarks.  I was pleased to see that red phone boxes and double-decker buses were well-represented.

As you progress through the book, each double-page spread features a different historical, geographical or cultural aspect of the city.  I really love the fact that there’s a real mixture of new and old included from Abbey Road to the London Zoo  Each spread also includes snippets of information and fascinating facts to impress your friends with.  Or perhaps a group of tourists – you could almost become a tour guide!

Here are a few of my favourite pages:

This gorgeous book is absolutely packed full of London icons and its beautiful, slightly nostalgic, illustrations make this the perfect choice for London-lovers young and old.

I’m off to Buckingham Palace….
