Most people cannot see ghosts.  Can you?

Leo has lived by himself in a house on the edge of the city for many years, reading his books and drawing pictures.  When a new family move in, they are terrified by Leo’s efforts to welcome them to his house.  Leo decides to become a roaming ghost for a while and visit the city.

On the surface, this is a light-hearted ghost story told from the point of view of a young ghost.  It’s actually much more than that – it teaches friendship, accepting others and the power of your imagination in a simple but clever way.

It was also great to see a book which didn’t conform to typical gender stereotypes.  Leo’s friend, Jane, was playing at Knights of the Round Table when he met her, rather than more traditionally ‘girly’ games.

The clever use of blue in the illustrations throughout adds an other-worldly feeling to this story which fits with its subject-matter perfectly
