Unicorn Academy Series by Julie Sykes, illustrated by Lucy Truman, typography by Joel Holland.

Today two new titles from the fab ‘Unicorn Academy’ series are adding some glitter and sparkle to my blog.

Ava and Star get caught up in a struggle to save the unicorns’ magic as it starts to fade.  The special sky berries that the unicorns need to survive have disappeared! With a little help from their friends, Ava and Star head east over the mountains. But the path won’t be easy and someone seems to have enchanted the plants to block their way.  But why?

Isabel and Cloud  Isabel absolutely cannot wait for her unicorn, Cloud, to discover his magical power.  Will it be fire, invisibility, making rainbow slides? They may never get the chance to find out as mysterious torrential rain is threatening to make Sparkle Lake flood, endangering the school.  If that happens, all the students will have to go home. Luckily, Isabel thinks she’s found a way to stop it, but it’s going to be dangerous!

Every child I’ve given one of these books to has absolutely loved it. They have just the right amount of magic and danger to make them appeal to readers of all ages, but I would say they’re especially good for that tricky age group of 6-8 where children are starting to develop their reading stamina by attempting chapter books independently.

For titles in the series, look HERE.

Wishing rainbows and sparkles to everyone,

Library Girl.

*Many thanks to Nosy Crow for sending me these titles to review*
