Watching The Nutcracker is a Christmas tradition from my childhood. Imagine my delight when this beautiful search and find book was delivered.
One in a series of gorgeous, foiled hardback books bringing to life classic stories in a new and interactive way. When people think of ‘The Nutcracker,’ they often think of the ballet, but the full story ‘The Nutcracker and the Mouse King’ is actually much longer and quite dark in places.
In this version, we follow Marie and Fritz as they receive lavish gifts for Christmas, including the wooden Nutcracker doll (which Fritz damages), see the famous battle between the dolls and the mice, and visit the Marzipan Castle in Candyland.
What makes this series stand out for me is the quality of the books and the beautifully detailed illustrations. These interactive classics allow readers to search for lots of hidden details within the pages, or choose a specific character to follow.
It would make a great gift for fans of The Nutcracker of any age, with the abridged text and illustrations making it the perfect introduction to a classic.
