I absolutely love this series of interactive books which has been carefully developed by psychotherapist and former primary teacher, Dr. Sharie Coombes. As schools continue to focus on mental health and mindfulness, these books are perfect for pupils to work through or dip in and out of.
‘Letting Go!’ focuses on helping children recognise feelings of grief and loss, disappointment and change, and provides them with strategies to help combat them. They are encouraged to think about people and positive thoughts which they can draw on when feeling low. Colouring, doodling and drawing are central to the exercises in this series of books.
‘Be Positive!’ centres around tackling feelings of low self-esteem and negativity by re-training their brains to think positive thoughts. It also acknowledges that it’s ok to have a wobble occasionally, but that it will become much easier to stop them happening if pupils practise thinking positively. Activities encourage children to count their blessings, to develop body confidence and tips to appear (then hopefully become) more confident.
A brilliant series for children aged 7 plus. To read reviews of some of the other titles, click HERE or HERE.
