‘What Can You See on the Farm?’ By Kate Ware, illustrated by María Perera.

I love this title, which is the first in a brand new spot and count series.

‘On the Farm’ is a fantastic introduction to life on the farm. It is absolutely packed with excellent farmyard vocabulary such as ‘herding,’ ‘sty,’ and ‘bales.’ It also names lots of animals and plants you might expect to see on a farm.

On each page, readers are asked to find a certain number of a specific creature or object. This not only develops their counting skills, but also their powers of observation and concentration.  The cut-out sections provide tantalising glimpses of Perera’s detailed and playful illustrations.

I would recommend this series for book lovers aged three and up.
