Blog tour: ‘Bumble & Snug and the Angry Pirates,’ by Mark Bradley.

Today’s my stop on the Bumble & Snug blog tour. I’m always on the look out for new graphic novels and this one’s especially good as it’s suitable for readers aged 5+

“Bumble and Snug are going on an epic journey – well, they’re going for a picnic…

But when they get lost, these little monsters with BIG FEELINGS will have to work together. Throw in some angry pirates, many hats and a disaster or two, and you’ve got a recipe for ADVENTURE!”

My whole household absolutely loved this! I was actually third in line to read it, behind my two sons. My eldest declared it very good and pointed out that one of the characters (I shan’t say which one) very much reminded him of me. My youngest is really just starting out on his graphic novel journey but was gripped by the bold illustrations and hilarious banter. He is going to lend it to his friend now that I’ve finished it.

Myself, I really enjoyed watching the characters get themselves in and out of scrapes with varying degrees of success, all whilst learning to work as a team and how to manage their emotions. This is the first graphic novel I’ve come across for younger readers which really encourages them to think about their reactions to situations and consider how they could do things differently.

This is a truly engaging, highly accessible title with two main characters to fall in love with! I really hope that it will be the first of many titles in the series.

Library Girl.
