Books about the beautiful game are always extremely popular; fans love reading about the antics of their favourite players, or imagining themselves right there on the pitch. Very rarely do football biographies focus on the brains behind the team – their manager. That’s why I’m so pleased that Ransom Publishing have added the legendary Pep Guardiola to their ranks!
Pep Guardiola is one of the greatest football managers of all time – but his journey to that point wasn’t always easy…
Discover how he became the record-breaking manager he is today – and get to grips with the incredible behind-the-scenes world of top football managers – in this fast moving fictionalised biography.
This book is part of Tales from the Touchline – a new offshoot from Ransom’s popular Tales from the Pitch series. In each of these books, Harry Coninx reveals the inspiring journey of a game-changing manager, in a fresh, pundit-like voice.
What I really love about this series, is the way that the books seamlessly blend accurate facts and statistics with representations and events from the author’s imagination. The result is a highly readable title which puts you front and centre of the action.
I’ve often wondered how, sometimes tense, behind the scenes conversations might go and why certain tactical decisions were made. I definitely have a better understanding of this now that I’ve read ‘Guardiola.’
This book is bound to be a sure-fire winner for anyone with an interest in football, and the unique managerial angle makes this title stand out from the rest. ‘Guardiola’ also passed what I call the ‘Stealability test’ – my son snatched it from my reading pile before I even had a chance to look at it! You can order your copy here.
If you’re looking for footballing titles, try some of the other titles in this series. And watch out for ‘Klopp’ and ‘Mourinho’ coming soon!
*Many thanks to Ransom Publishing for sending me this title to review*
