‘Troll Stroll,’ by Elli Woollard, illustrated by David Barrow.

‘A guzzle! A gollop! Who wants to eat goats? I’ll chomp little children and chew up their coats.’

Troll is fed up of eating goats for his dinner so he sets off to find something much more tasty – children! On bikes, in cars or packed on buses. They’re all equally delicious. However the children are not prepared to be eaten without putting up a fight. Can they outsmart the greedy troll or will they end up as lunch?

This story is a fresh twist on the traditional tale of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff,’ which keen story-lovers might just spot as they romp through the joyous rhyming text and clever illustrations packed with references to the original story.  The story builds and builds towards the climax with repeated refrains that youngsters will be desperate to join in with.

As with all Nosy Crow picture books, a clever QR code is tucked inside the front cover so they can listen along or read along themselves. Though in my opinion, nothing beats the feeling of collaboratively reading a story together.

Library Girl.

*Many thanks to Nosy Crow for sending me this title to review*
