‘Aalfred and Aalbert,’ by Morag Hood.

Morag Hood’s books are instantly recognisable. Her bold, bright style has earnt her two nominations for the 2019 CILIP Greenaway Medal and a shortlisting for the Scottish Book Trust’s 2019 Bookbug picture book prize.

Aalfred and Aalbert are aardvarks desperately searching for a friend. They’re practically next-door neighbours but their paths never cross because Aalfred sleeps all day and Aalfred sleeps all night.

Seeing how unhappy they both are, Bird devises a series of clever stunts designed to bring the two lonely Aardvarks together.  This proves aarder then he’d expected and the two seem destined to never meet, until their worlds collide in a most abrupt fashion!

Witty, full of visual gags and characters you’ll love, Aalfred and Aalbert would make a great addition to anyone’s bookshelf.

Library Girl.
